The pintail ducks are emblematic of an endangered species (encroached upon by human usurpation of
wetlands); five of them move around in a circle at the base of an antique world map (a symbol of human concepts of
time and the planet) while an encrusted ‘ancient’ duck of no specific identity (the 'eternal duck!') sits atop as
icon of all the forms of water fowl that have ever lived and those that will continue to survive. It is an
honorific trophy for these life forms.
