A female form (literally, a couch potato) is stuck in a very sour environment (lemon trees); the blank expression and absence of arms, reveals her numbness to the circumstances that surround her. The situation is a metaphor for my own experience of knowing social and environmental inequities and feeling powerless to act. This piece also relates to people/cultures that are so preoccupied by material existence or personal problems that there is no time, either to notice social and environmental problems nor to help solve them. Sour vision disables our ability to see the forest for the trees, and to have the vision to transform society through compassionate action.
