Cruising Cornucopia
Reflecting on the wealth of developed nations, I created a
large cornucopia, symbolic of endless abundance. However this
ceramic basket of goodies is on wheels, the hubcaps of which have
threatening spikes. The arched windows reflect a sacred space, yet
aggression is linked with the vehicle’s presence. The entrance is
like an open flower, ringed with petals. Inside are a variety of
organisms that also serve as body parts: protozoan eyes,
caterpillar mouth, etc. The merging of the sacred with the profane
is a challenge for all people, in our relationship with our self,
others, community, nation and environment. |
