Fruits of Our Time

Prestigious items are often viewed in display cases. I was reflecting on the notion that we humans give little thought to the food we consume: the public accepts fruits and vegetables that are chemically fertilized and heavily dosed with pesticides and herbicides to create flawlessly surfaced food. This treatment perpetuates industrial monoculture, thus the waning of biodiversity. The individual pieces show the accumulations of their destructive paths; yet each still possesses a haunting beauty. Their mutated/decayed states continue to gnaw at our unconscious while compelling desire to own and consume.
