Coming Through Slaughter
This female figure, dark in race, is celebrating her acceptance into the mainstream world (the ‘coming of age’ lacy white dress), but she is still contained within a confining structure. We hardly notice that a cage exists because it is so beautifully adorned, and although it seems that there is enough room for her to flee, she is glued in the center. I mean this to be a metaphor for any humans who are trapped by social expectations, personal desires and illusions.
