Warship, Worship, Worthship

This totemic structure is a parody of warheads and the war culture mentality. The monumental ‘plastic’ defense weapon emits a torturous glow from it’s ‘brain,’ sucks in money and exudes the rot of domesticated nature from its belly. This 'rot' has a seductive beauty, as does all forms of power. The irony of the work is that 90% of the materials used are recycled, gathered from the streets and transformed into an icon of fallacious power. The exploitation of the earth and of other nations through militarist strategies arise from a value system based on fear and domination. The meditative process and recycled materials used in the creation of this false idol suggest alternative approaches.
