Aquifer Awareness
This is a 3 site proposal intended to bring awareness to the importance of the water recharge area for the city and surrounding area of Laramie, WY. An information plaque at the Lincoln Monument Rest Stop informs the transitory public of the importance of this site as the supplier of water for the area; it also explains the giant sculpture on the surface slab of rock on the embankment where vehicles pass as they move West, down the hill into Laramie, WY. The image of the giant sculpture, is of water flowing into a person’s mouth.
The photo is a detail of Site 1 on the 3 dimensional model of the proposal.
Site 2 involves a biking, hiking trail that begins near the Lincoln monument and travels overland, mostly on National Forest and on Livestock company land. Stone trail markers indicate aquifer depth below surface.
Site 3 is at the end of the trail, by Laramie’s water tanks. It will be accessible to locals and link with a local greenbelt pathway now in construction. A water fountain will be created by an artist through competition.
