Cultural Exchanges: Part 2

Co-creation with Kitchen Staff

Sana asked each of the kitchen staff to bring a family photograph & something else they treasured; she also interviewed each one (using a translator). Sana linked all three components by creating something with their treasure and putting it with the photo and interview notes. The objects, interviews and photos were posted in the kitchen where students accessed their dishes (photo on left). This allowed for all the other students to connect with the people who served them; there were at least 60 students studying various aspects of rainforest ecology at the station at the time.

Photos above are of the individual pieces created by Sana; they present each member of the kitchen staff by combining precious object, photo and answers to questions about their home and working life, as well as how they feel connected to their environment:
