'Art & Ecology' Class Project Proposals

Art & Ecology is an interdisciplinary upper-division university course drawing students from environmental studies, geology, communications, American studies, art and other humanities. Sometimes it has been a writing class; fundamentally the class is theoretical and practical, resulting in group proposals that focus on ameliorating specific local environmental problems.

Costa Rica field 'Art & Ecology' Class Projects

A one month intensive “field” version of this class took place at a research station in Costa Rica (summer 2001); experiences –for both the students and myself-- within non-dominant cultures brings awareness of global interconnections. Students created work that engaged the biology, social and spiritual ecology of the place.
